Day 37: 643.8-672.81

The cabin was nice and warm but during the night a lot of critters tried to get in. It freaked me out a bit before I went to sleep, once I was sleeping I slept alright. I got up early 0500 and started hiking at 0530. For my breakfast I went to Walker Pass Campground where I arrived at 0800. Very typical view while on the PCT. ...

Day 36: 612.9-643.8

Today was another day with a few water carries so I wanted to get an early start. I woke with my alarm at 0500 and started hiking at 0530. Beautiful sunrise this morning. Today I would be passing two water caches which cannot really be relied upon for water. Because of this I had stocked up with a lot of water at the last water source and still had quite a lot left. My plan if the caches had water was to camel up, meaning drink a lot at the cache. ...

Day 35: 587.3-612.9

I woke up at 0500 to my alarm and started my morning with a poptart for a snack. I quickly packed up my camp and was on trail by 0532. This is one of my quickest mornings. My sleeping bag had a bit of dew so I will be drying it at lunch. I would be passing a few water sources today the latter of which precedes a potential long water carry. ...

Day 34: 566.4-587.3

The next section of the trail is one of the driest with regards to water resupplying. So I have spent some time studying the water report. The normal rule of thumb is to carry 1 L per 5 miles, I have roughly been following that rule so far. I have always found that I have a lot of water leftover though. I think for me 1 L per 8 miles is more appropriate. ...

Day 33: Zero in Tehachapi

Today we zeroed in Tehachapi. I did not sleep that well as there were a lot of people snoring in the room. In the end I did fall asleep and get some sleep though. The day was overall not very productive but since I did not have a lot to do that was alright. I basically only had to resupply with food and I got that done. I am bringing less calories per day than the last few sections as I had a bit too much left over each time. ...

Day 32: 541.55-566.4

Last night was very windy but I ended up getting a good night’s sleep. I woke up just before 0530 and after eating some snacks I started packing up. I started hiking at 0617 and it was initially quite cold but luckily not that wind exposed. Early morning hiking as I pass Groover and Pacecar I skipped all water sources for the day as I did not need additional water for the day. After climbing out of the canyon with the first and last reliable water source of the day I had breakfast near some rocks. I only stopped for about 25 minutes and were soon passed by pacecar and groover. ...

Day 30: 498.2-517.6

I woke up quite a few times during the night due to the wind. When I woke up around 6 it was very cloudy and moist almost rainy. I packed up and started hiking at 0645. It was cold, windy and cloudy in the morning and I hiked in my rain jacket and base layer pants till 0900 when I stopped to refill water. Passing the 500 miles market in the cold clouds ...

Day 29: 478.2-498.2

Today we were leaving Casa De Luna and had decided on a late start. This was mostly to get a good deal of pancakes for breakfast. After devouring a whole lot of pancakes I got a ride from the owner of Casa De Luna to the trail. I started hiking around 0805. Stilla very green desert The hiking was good with a good mix of uphill and downhill. Because of the late start my first stop would be at a water source in 10 miles for lunch. I arrived around 11 and stayed for about an hour before pushing on to Sawmill Campground where we were going to stay the night. ...

When the trail actually started the hiking instantly improved. ...
